This is a type of co-sleeping that is safe and doesn't increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing, and can help you bond with your baby's new arrival.
These cots often have a side that can be raised, so you can easily reach your infant throughout the night for feeding and comforting. This is particularly helpful for mums recovering from the c-section. Many of them are mobile or foldable, which means you can bring them along on trips and use them as a temporary sleep solution for newborns who aren't quite ready to move to a larger cot.
When you are looking for a bedside crib, look for a model that has a breathable mattress and a cover to shield your baby from stains. You'll also want to pick up some baby-safe add-ons such as a blanket, a teether and a soft toys.
If you're seeking a long-term solution, some cribs come with conversion kits that let you transform them into a toddler bed or cot at the time that is appropriate. This can extend their lifespan and make the transition a lot easier. Some models have a removable portion at the top that can be turned into a bassinet. Some can be used in conjunction with a regular adult bed or a high-rise model. This is an excellent choice for families who are planning to frequently travel or switch between bedrooms at night. Be aware of the dimensions of your room to ensure you be able to fit in the crib comfortably. A lot of cribs have an incline that can be added to create an incline to accommodate babies with reflux.
